About Harley

Harley is a Catholic Inspirational speaker who helps listeners overcome fear, anxiety and hopelessness with faith, hope and love. Harley will inspire rather than inform, he will motivate rather than moralize.

Harley has chosen the story of the Prodigal Son as the main theme of his ministry because he wants you to know that a loving and merciful God is waiting to welcome us home with open arms and give us the freedom and happiness we have been searching for. Harley believes that when his listeners overcome fear, anxiety and hopelessness, they will discover a greater sense of dignity and purpose and deepen their connection to God, the church, family and friends.

Harley worked with the child and family services agency – Family Ties Association – for 10 years. During this time Harley’s faith gave him the strength to walk with many adult and youth clients through some of the most difficult struggles of their life. Harley’s experience with “at risk” teenagers enables him to offer a unique perspective to youth audiences. Harley’s supervisors spoke highly of his ability to develop rapport with his clients and help them overcome destructive attitudes and behaviours. In 2012 Family Ties Association presented him with the Starfish Award for “making a difference one person at a time”.

Harley grew up in Estevan, SK. The younger of two brothers, Harley did well in school and attended church regularly with his mom. He had lots of friends and enjoyed hockey and golf. By the age of 15, Harley had dropped out of school, alienated himself from his family, was abusing drugs and alcohol, and was in trouble with the law. Then a series of events, including the death of his father, helped him realize there must be more to life. It was at this critical point that he had a life changing experience of God’s love and forgiveness. Since then Harley has obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology/theology from the Franciscan University of Steubenville, in Ohio. He studied world religions for two years at the University of Saskatchewan. Over the past 25 years, Harley has had many opportunities to speak and sing at Catholics Parishes, and high schools, in Canada and the US.

Harley is a happy, healthy, grateful family man who lives in Coaldale, AB with his wife Filomena. They enjoy spending time with family, especially grandchildren. They love being in the mountains where they enjoy camping, hiking and snowshoeing.

Harley’s favourite passages from scripture are:
Matt 25: 31 - 46, 1 Cor 13: 1-7 & 13, Romans 8: 31-39.
These passages are all foundational to his message. He believes they all point to Jesus’ command to
“love God with all your mind, soul and strength and love your neighbor as yourself.”
